Chayn is an open-source project that aims to leverage technology to empower women who have experienced abuse, helping them live happier and healthier lives. A volunteer-run project, Chayn is a modern, fully mechanised organization that regards the idea of tech-literacy as being of utmost importance for the everyday woman. The organisation aims to encourage personal, intellectual and emotional growth in women and girls who have been victims of violent and oppressive circumstances, helping them reach their full potential as independent individuals leading lives on their own terms. We are open to collaborating with other like-minded organisations that provide service to vulnerable groups.
Chayn has three aims:
- Empower women by providing them with easy access to information, support, and tools
- Create communities that come up with solutions for the problems women face today
- Create tools, projects, and events that enable women and the organisations that support them to take action
This last point is particularly important – taking action is essential. Everything that Chayn does originates from a burning passion for gender equality and for the emancipation and empowerment of women against patriarchy, oppression and abuse. We believe in protesting against the patriarchal and misogynistic culture that still permeates society. We believe in the creation and circulation of information and stand proudly with the Open Source movement to promote a culture and society of free knowledge.
